Hannah McMasters Story:
Before working with Mia I struggled with a poor relationship with food and yo-yo dieting. I thought restricting the foods I ate was the only way to lost weight. Once I turned 30 years old I knew I needed help with my nutrition. I was constantly working out, restricting my foods, and doing different diet trends allowed me to see results for a short period of time and then I’d go into a bender of binge eating. I wanted to gain a better understanding on how to fuel my body and work smarter not harder in the kitchen and gym.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Mia on my nutrition over the last 3 years. My experience with Mia has been nothing short of amazing! She took the time to answer any and all my questions, she listened and provided realistic options that set me up for success. Mia has supported me, pushed me out of my comfort zone, and has kept me accountable through all my phases of nutrition and fitness. Two major highlights have been my body recomp and defect.
In the first year working with Mia, we worked up to maintenance macros then went into a 6 month deficit (slow and controlled) - I dropped 20 lbs, 16.5 inches off my body, and 6.7% body fat. During that time I was able to increase my muscle mass by 1.5%. The second highlight is after my deficit I decided to train Olympic lifting. So over the last 2 years I’ve been training 2-3 days a week under Mia’s coaching and I have competed in 3 Olympic lifting competitions. From those 3 comps I’ve increased my totals from 130kg to 148kg.
Results I’ve noticed in my time as a client has been maintaining a good relationship with food, looking at food as fuel in my performance. I’ve also been able to remain consistent in choosing food staples while traveling for work frequently. Keeping a routine and structure for my nutrition and training has been a huge change for me since working with Mia. I highly encourage anyone who is wanting to learn more about nutrition and their body, performance based nutrition to enhance training and recovery, or even to gain muscle and/or lose weight to choose Mia.
She has changed my life in so many ways! Mia has given me room to voice my struggles, fears, and emotions from week to week, reminding myself of the work I’ve put in and the progress I’ve made. She’s pushed me to test my abilities and comfort zone - all of which has allowed me to believe I can do hard things, increased my confidence, and a reminder to give myself grace in hard times because I’ve come along way!
